The West Indies beat Australia with two balls to spare in a thrilling clash at the Twenty20 World Cup on Friday.

Australia have lost for the second time in two games at this year's Twenty20 World Cup after the West Indies produced a thrilling last few overs to claim victory on Friday by six wickets.

The Aussie innings started well, with Aaron Finch and David Warner guiding them into the 30s before the former was bowled by Marlon Samuels for 16 in the fourth over.

Warner (20) and Shane Watson (2) fell soon after as Australia were shaking, but a good 45 from Glenn Maxwell alongside some cameos from Brad Hodge (35) and Brad Haddin (15) took Australia to a competitive total.

The Windies flew out of the blocks in their response, before Dwayne Smith fell for 17 with his team on 50. The next wicket was key and it was the big-hitting Chris Gayle who fell for 53 off just 35, after which point the runs slowed slightly.

Dwayne Bravo picked up the pace alongside Darren Sammy at five and six in the order and they hit 19 runs off the penultimate over to leave the West Indies requiring 12 off the final over.

James Faulkner's over started with two dot balls, but Sammy recovered with two sixes in a row to take a dramatic victory for the West Indies.
