Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown believes that Jonathan Trott remains "one of the leading batsmen" in the game.

The 33-year-old England international, who recently made himself eligible for the national side once more following a stress-related hiatus, penned a new three-year deal at the club earlier today.

"Jonathan played some of the best cricket of his career in the second half of last season and he showed that he remains one of the leading batsmen in the English game," Brown is quoted as saying by the ECB's official website.

"It's been great to see him enjoying his cricket and make such a big contribution to the team's strong finish to the season. He loves Warwickshire and playing cricket at Edgbaston, and everyone connected with the club is thrilled to see him commit long-term."

Trott has has won two county championship titles since signing his first professional deal with Warwickshire in 2003.
