Durham all-rounder Gareth Breese has admitted that he was elated to bow out of the club with a trophy win as he and teammates lifted the Royal London One-Day Cup.

The North East side secured their fifth trophy win in seven seasons as they defeated Warwickshire by three wickets at Lord's.

Breese played an integral role in the victory as he took 3-30 with the ball and scored 15 with the bat, including the winning runs for Mark Stoneman's team.

"The sun wasn't shining yesterday but after you win it doesn't really matter," Breese told the club's official website.

"All of us stayed in the dressing room after, we sang our team song and we just spent the evening all together.

"We've all worked really hard, we were probably nowhere after the first three games in the competition and I think that's why it's even more special."

Durham last won the competition in 2007 and have also lifted the County Championship three times in the past six years.
