Chris Rushworth became Durham's top first-class wicket-taker as Worcestershire were beaten by 258 runs in their LV= Insurance County Championship clash at the Emirates Riverside.

Rushworth claimed his 528th first-class wicket for the club by removing Jack Haynes, having matched Graham Onions' county total in the first innings.

Worcestershire were dismissed for 164 as Rushworth finished with four for 52 and Mark Wood and Brydon Carse were similarly impressive with three and two wickets apiece respectively.

The emphatic victory moves Durham into second place in Group 1 of the County Championship, three points behind Essex.

Daryl Mitchell passed 50 for the third time this season in making 62 for the visitors.

But there was little Worcestershire resistance as Rushworth found his rhythm and the record-breaking wicket prompted emotional scenes among his team-mates and a salute to his dad in the Riverside car park.

Simon Harmer starred as Essex returned to winning ways in thrashing Derbyshire by an innings and 15 runs at Chelmsford.

Harmer finished with match figures of 12 for 202, taking three for 122 in Derbyshire's second innings after a career-best nine for 80 in the first.

Jamie Porter and Sam Cook also took three scalps each in the second innings as Derbyshire were dismissed for 251.

Ryan Ten Doeschate claimed six catches in the match, all at short-leg – the 14th occasion an Essex player has managed the feat and first since Sir Alastair Cook versus Durham in 2004.

Brooke Guest top scored for the visitors with 65 and shared a second-wicket partnership of 97 with Billy Godleman, who made 45.

Jack Leaning completed the sixth hundred of his first-class career as Kent secured a comfortable Group 3 draw against Sussex at Hove.

Sussex were missing the injured Jofra Archer, who was replaced in the field by academy player Nick Oxley.

Archer, who did not bowl despite fielding on the third evening, appeared in his whites as the teams warmed up.

But he did not take the field as Kent built up their overnight lead of 109 on another rain-shortened day.

Leaning finished unbeaten on 127 and put on 172 for the fourth wicket with Ollie Robinson, who scored 85 in Kent's second-innings 387 for four declared.

In the same group, Glamorgan and Yorkshire were forced to settle for a draw after persistent rain meant only 13 overs were possible on the final day.

Play did not start until 4.15pm, but Glamorgan batsman Kiran Carlson made the most of the time available to compile a quickfire 88 out of a total of 164 for four.

The impressive 23-year-old, who struck 13 fours in his 84-ball knock, now has four fifties and two hundreds this season.

Yorkshire picked up 12 points to go top of the section, five points ahead of Lancashire who did not play in this round of matches.

No play was possible on the final day at Taunton with Surrey ending on 206 for four against Somerset, the only innings of a rain-ruined match.

The outcome was good news for Group 2 leaders Gloucestershire, who sit four points clear of second-placed Somerset with a game in hand ahead of their meeting next week.
