A maiden Test century from Chris Rogers helps Australia fight back against England on day two of the fourth Ashes Test in Durham.

Australia have made 222-5 at the end of day two of the fourth Ashes Test against England in Durham.

The tourists will start Sunday 16 runs behind England after the hosts were bowled out for 238.

Australia lost key wickets during the morning session as David Warner (3), Usman Khawaja (0) and Michael Clarke (6) were all dismissed by Stuart Broad.

Steven Smith (16) went to the bowling of Tim Bresnan after lunch, but a defiant partnership between Shane Watson and Chris Rogers saw the Aussies drag themselves back into the frame.

Watson eventually fell victim to Broad having made a solid knock of 68, while Rogers went on to post a score of 101 not out at the close of play - his maiden Test century.

Rogers will start at the crease with Brad Haddin (12 not out) tomorrow.
