Australia in control of fourth Ashes Test despite five wickets for Stuart Broad

Australia seize full control of the fourth Ashes Test match in Sydney despite England bowler Stuart Broad claiming five wickets.

Australia have ended day two of the fourth Ashes Test with a 403-run advantage over England, despite Stuart Broad taking five wickets for the tourists.

Resuming on 126-3, the Baggy Greens dominated yet another rain-interrupted session with Steven Smith and Usman Khawaja quickly taking the game away from their opponents.

Broad stuck to remove Smith for 67, ending a 115-run partnership in the process, but Khawaja continued on his way to a ninth Test century on his first outing in nearly two-and-a-half years.

The middle order fell around him without making a significant contribution, although that set up Pat Cummins (34*) and Nathan Lyon (16) to frustrate England in the evening session.

Khawaja was finally out for 137 - Broad picking up his eighth five-wicket haul against Australia - but the hosts eventually declared on 416-8, leaving England with five overs at the end of the day.

Although Zak Crawley survived edging through to the slips off a no-ball from Mitchell Starc, it felt like a sign of things to come, and England must show resilience from 13-0 when play resumes on Friday.
