Alastair Cook has revealed that he has been given the support of the ECB to continue as England captain despite their 5-0 Ashes whitewash.
The 29-year-old batsman's future as skipper had been called into question following the tourists' heavy defeats to Australia, who completed a series clean sweep with a 281-run win inside three days in Sydney.
However, Cook has been given the go-ahead to carry on in his role and has insisted that he is "desperate" to make amends for England's disappointing tour Down Under.
"I've been given the vote of confidence by the board," Cook told reporters. "I'm desperate to turn it around, I think I'm the right man to do it.
"There's real anger and frustration and the buck stops with me. I'm very proud to be captain. Don't take that for granted. We're sorry. It hurts."
Technical director Andy Flower has also survived calls for his head, with ECB chief executive David Collier saying that he will stay on.
