England claim four Australian wickets in the afternoon to bring themselves back into contention in the third Ashes Test in Manchester.

Australia lost four wickets during the afternoon session as England started to battle their way back on day four of the third Ashes Test at Old Trafford.

The tourists returned after lunch on 24-1, but they soon lost the services of David Warner for 41 runs when he was caught in the deep by Joe Root off the bowling of Tim Bresnan.

The same bowler accounted for Shane Watson, but not before Graeme Swann had bowled Usman Khawaja for 24.

Steven Smith was the final wicket to fall after he was run out by James Anderson following a mix-up with his captain Michael Clarke.

The rain then forced the umpires to call an early tea break with the Aussies on 137-5 and a lead of 296.
