Andy Flower gives a clear indication that he wants to continue as coach of England after The Ashes series.

England coach Andy Flower has said that he is "motivated" to continue in the role despite heavy defeat in The Ashes.

Australia are on course to seal a 5-0 victory in the fifth and final Test match in Sydney next week, which will bring the curtain down on what has been an abject series for the tourists.

Flower said that both he and captain Alastair Cook will face up to their share of responsibility following the conclusion of the tour, but has refused to shy away from the challenges that lie ahead.

"I will be meeting with [managing director] Paul Downton and one of the future of the leadership of the national team, with regards the coach's position," Flower told reporters. "But I'm very motivated to contribute to contribute to English cricket and that's what I'm going to do.

"This is a challenging time for any leader and for Alastair and myself this is certainly in that bracket.

"Out of challenging times sometimes we can grow significantly and we'll be looking at how we do that. Certainly, when I examine my role in the tour I ask myself tough questions."

Flower has been coaching the Three Lions since 2009.
