Andy Flower to leave after return Ashes?

England's team director Andy Flower will reportedly leave his role once The Ashes in Australia comes to an end.

Andy Flower has reportedly reached an agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board to step down from his position as team director at the end of the winter's Ashes series in Australia.

The 45-year-old has overseen three consecutive Ashes victories, while England also had a spell at the top of the Test rankings under his stewardship.

However, Flower's reluctance to continue spending so much time on tour, as well as fears that England have become too cautious in recent months, has resulted in the Zimbabwean deciding to quit by mutual consent early next year, according to The People.

The report went on to claim that current one-day international coach and former England spin-bowler Ashley Giles is the leading candidate to take over from Flower.

It is thought that County Championship side Surrey would be keen to appoint Flower when his departure is confirmed.
