Joe Root welcomes abuse from Australia ahead of England's second Test against them in the Ashes on Thursday.

Joe Root has told Australia to "bring it on" ahead their Ashes second Test clash with England this week.

The Three Lions were comfortably beaten by 381 runs in the first match in Brisbane, and the media talk has since been dominated by heated rows that resulted in Michael Clarke being hit with a fine for "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match".

Shane Warne also claimed that James Anderson is guilty of abusing George Bailey, but Root welcomes the battle when both sides take to the pitch.

"It's great - that's why you play Test cricket, to get in confrontations and battles like that and try to be successful," Root told BBC Sport. "Bring it on. It should be good fun. I'm really looking forward to it.

"Guys are out there to win, and it's all part of the game. Whether you like it or not, you have to deal with it on the field and find your own way to cope.

"If the ICC want to step in when they think things have gone too far, that's up to them. But all we can do is control what we're doing, and try to win the game for our country. I enjoy being out there, and the battles you get are all part of the game. I'm sure it will continue the whole series."

The second Test gets underway at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday with Australia holding a 1-0 lead.
