England beat Australia by 347 runs to win the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

England have beaten Australia by 347 runs to win the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

The hosts, who are now 2-0 up in the five-match series, set their opponents a target of 583 runs to win, but the Aussies could only make 235 before being bowled out.

England started the morning declaring on 349-7 to give themselves a lead of 582, with Joe Root adding two runs to his overnight score of 176 before he was dismissed by Ryan Harris.

Australia's time at the crease started badly as they slumped to 48-3 at lunch. Shane Watson was bowled lbw by James Anderson for 20 before Chris Rogers fell victim to Graeme Swann after posting six runs.

It then got worse as Phillip Hughes was dismissed by Swann having hit just one run.

Michael Clarke and Usman Khawaja put up some resistance during the afternoon session, but Clarke eventually went for 51 when he was outfoxed by the spin of Root.

The England youngster claimed another wicket soon after as Khawaja was sent back to the pavilion having made 54.

Tim Bresnan then got in on the act by dismissing Steve Smith for one, leaving the Aussies on 136-6 at tea.

There was more cheer for England in the final session of the day as Ashton Agar fell to Bresnan (13) before Brad Haddin (seven) went to Swann.

Anderson took out Peter Siddle for 18 to put the hosts on the brink of victory, and the win was complete when Swann got James Pattinson for 35.
