Alastair Cook has spoken of his disappointment at failing to reach 300 runs against India at Edgbaston.
The 26-year-old was caught on 294 on the third day of the third Test as England declared on 710-7, putting them 486 runs ahead.
"It was a great moment tinged with disappointment that I got so close to a landmark but didn't quite get there," he said.
"But that's what batters do, you always have something to be disappointed about.
"It was nice to cash in, and when you take the emotion out of it, I am obviously delighted," he added.
Should England win the third Test, they will overtake India at the top of the ICC's Test rankings for the first time in their history.
