Head coach Peter Moores has claimed that Alastair Cook is "evolving" in his role as captain after England ended their long wait for a Test victory on Thursday.
The hosts completed a 266-run triumph over India at the Ageas Bowl to level the five-match series at 1-1, and Moores believes that Cook is continuing to show signs of improvement following the team's first win in the longest format since last August.
"His strength is the tougher it gets, the better he gets," England's coach told reporters. "He is totally committed to England. He knows he has areas to improve but to bat and captain so well shows he is evolving for the future."
Cook also managed to end his run of poor form with the bat in Southampton thanks to scores of 95 and 70 not out.
