James Anderson reveals his joy at coming through England's Tri-series meeting with India unscathed following his return from injury.

James Anderson has admitted that he was "delighted" to have played his part in England's heavy Tri-series win over India.

The 32-year-old claimed four wickets on his return to the side following a knee injury in a victory that Alastair Cook's men will hope acts as a springboard ahead of the World Cup.

"It couldn't have gone much better really," Anderson is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "I was just happy to get out there, get a competitive game under my belt and come through it unscathed.

"I was delighted to be back in the team and with the wickets, that was a bonus. It's just one game, my first game back and it went really well but I've still got a lot of work to do.

"Not just myself, but as a team too. We want to build on what was such a good performance and hopefully we can do that on Friday."

Steven Finn produced an inspired display in the nine-wicket triumph at The Gabba, taking five wickets of his own to help England on their way.

Asked about his teammate's performance, Anderson added: "He's worked so hard off the field, trying to get himself back to the form we know he can produce. Everyone was delighted for him yesterday, it was a fantastic performance from him.

"Saying that he's a very humble, honest guy and he knows it's just one performance and he's got a lot of hard work to do to keep improving on that."

England return to action on Friday when they take on Australia.
