Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott has revealed his excitement during his country's dramatic draw with New Zealand in Auckland.

Unbeaten duo Matt Prior (110) and Monty Panesar (2) sustained a vast amount of pressure in the third and final Test but managed to hang on in the last ball of the series to ensure a 0-0 finish to the tour.

Boycott has no doubts that a dramatic Test finale such as England's is one of the most entertaining formats of the sport.

"It was very dramatic and had everybody on the edge of their seats all of the time," Boycott told BBC Sport. "It was a great advert for the game. You can't tell me that Twenty20 cricket is better than that.

"There were moments where you thought England were getting home and then someone would get out.

"In the end it was left to Monty Panesar to get the finest single of his life to get out of the way and let Matt Prior see the job through."

Former England captain Michael Vaughan was also full of praise for the tourists.
