Alastair Cook and Michael Carberry have both made unbeaten hundreds on the first day of England's four-day Ashes warm-up game against Australia A in Hobart.
It had earlier been announced that Joe Root was being dropped down the order to enable the England selectors to give Carberry a chance at the top and the 33-year-old made no mistake having scored 153 not out, with his knock made up from 22 fours and two straight sixes.
Fellow opener Cook also looked to play himself into form for the first Test with an innings of 154 not out.
Earlier in the day Carberry had survived an lbw appeal from Ben Cutting, but the replays showed that the ball was pitching just outside leg stump.
