Alastair Cook intends to be "massively involved" in ODIs

England captain Alastair Cook reveals that he is ready to join up with the ODI squad ahead of the forthcoming five-match series against India, which begins on Monday.

England captain Alastair Cook has declared himself available for the forthcoming one-day series against India, while also suggesting that James Anderson will take part.

Questions marks were mounted against Cook's leadership qualities and performances after England lost the first Test against the tourists, but the left-handed opener responded by helping his side to a 3-1 series with totals of 70, 79 and 95 in the subsequent Tests.

"I haven't sat down with the selectors or anything," he told the Guardian after England won the fifth Test by an innings and 244 runs yesterday. "I hope to be massively involved. We've got a World Cup in seven months' time.

"We put these whites away and focus on trying to win that World Cup – in conditions quite similar to here – and we've got to start that building process pretty much tomorrow morning."

"We'll see what happens with Jimmy, physically, but the way he was bowling at 88mph today, he looked in fine fettle – and hasn't bowled a huge amount of overs, so I hope he'll be ready to play a full part in that as well."

England and India are due to resume their battle on Monday in the first of five ODIs before two further T20 matches.
