Alastair Cook admits that England have fantastic strength in depth in the seam bowling department.

England captain Alastair Cook has admitted that England's bowling depth is a huge positive for his side in what is a busy summer of Test cricket.

Cook was quick to praise the influence of Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson in the second innings of their recent win against New Zealand.

However, he also mentioned the strength that England have in reserve, with Graeme Onions and Tim Bresnan both pushing for inclusion.

"Having [Broad and Anderson] is obviously a good situation to be in," Cook told the London Evening Standard.

"It's not just Stuart and Jimmy. There's Finny, he's a fantastic bowler, and then there's Graeme Onions and Tim Bresnan to consider. They're an important part of the squad and we've got to have that strength in depth with the amount of cricket coming up.

"We are lucky in the fast bowling department. They've all played a lot of cricket, they have that experience. They know their own games and they know how to get people out on certain wickets and that experience is invaluable. When it's not there you notice it."

The second Test starts at Headingley on Friday.
