Alastair Cook has put himself at risk of being suspended following England's victory in the second one-day international over Sri Lanka.

England went 20 minutes over the scheduled time to bowl their overs, and Cook could be suspended for a match if found guilty as he was punished for a similar offence against India in the summer.

"It's incredibly hard when the ball's flying everywhere - you have to bear in mind how big the ground is," the England captain told reporters after the game.

"The batsmen take quite a long time to come out. We knew that coming in, and we tried to be as quick as we could.

"I don't know what the punishment will be, if there is any."

International Cricket Council match referee David Boon will decide whether to suspend Cook for the fourth ODI, which takes place in Colombo on Sunday.
