England captain Alastair Cook has said that the upcoming one-day internationals with New Zealand is important, despite the quick turnaround from the Test series.
The three-match series will be quickly followed by the ICC Champions Trophy, and Cook said that beating New Zealand will boost confidence heading into the tournament.
"It's obviously a very quick turnaround and seems quite strange after just a day off, but it's an important series in its own right," Cook told Sky Sports News.
"We've got three games here then the Champions Trophy so we want to win as many games as possible to breed more confidence.
"Every time you've had recent success over an opposition it gives you confidence but New Zealand are a good one-day side - their record in big trophies and big games proves that so it's a big test for us."
England recently won the two-match Test series 2-0.
