Alastair Cook is reportedly expected to continue as England one-day captain for next year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

England selectors are reportedly expected to keep Alastair Cook as captain for next year's World Cup, despite calls for him to be dropped as leader from the one-day team.

The 29-year-old is believed to have been told that he will keep the captaincy for the side's tour to Sri Lanka in November and December, despite England having lost five one-day series with Cook at the helm.

According to the Daily Mail, national selector James Whitaker, head coach Peter Moores and the rest of the panel, including Mick Newell and Angus Fraser, decided to stand by Cook after holding a meeting yesterday to discuss the winter season.

The World Cup will be held in Australia and New Zealand next year.
