Dominic Cork claims that England shoulder consider giving the one-day captaincy to Hampshire's James Vince.

Dominic Cork has claimed that England should consider giving the one-day captaincy to Hampshire batsman James Vince following their disappointing World Cup exit.

Defeat to Bangladesh earlier this week ended England's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals with a game to spare in Pool A, and there have been questions raised over whether Eoin Morgan is the right man to lead the team forward.

Former England all-rounder Cork believes that the side would benefit from bringing in fresh faces, and has called for Vince to be considered as a potential replacement for Morgan.

Cork told Sky Sports News: "Are England looking at Morgan being captain in four years' time or even two years' time for the Champions Trophy? Or are they looking to bring in someone completely different?

"The jury is out for me and I'd like to see someone who isn't frightened of making different decisions, someone like Vince, who has captained Hampshire and England Lions.

"Why not throw it to him? He hasn't got any scars and there aren't really that many senior players any more, when you consider Ian Bell might not be playing much one-day cricket anymore."

Vince, who captained Hampshire in the T20 Blast last season, has not yet played for England in any format, but the 23-year-old has been a regular for the Lions in recent seasons.
