Graeme Swann claims two of the three New Zealand wickets to fall as England close in on victory in the second Test.

England claimed three New Zealand wickets during the afternoon session of the second Test involving the two countries at Headingley.

The home side returned after lunch on 249-3 and went on to add 38 more runs for the loss of a couple of wickets before captain Alastair Cook opted to declare.

That left the touring Kiwis chasing a victory target of 468, but their reply got off to a negative start when opener Peter Fulton was dismissed for five when he was caught by Ian Bell off the bowling of Stuart Broad, which in turn reduced New Zealand to 21-1.

The departing Fulton was replaced by Kane Williamson, but he soon joined his teammate back in the dressing room when he was trapped lbw by Graeme Swann having contributed just three runs.

Swann got among the wickets again just before tea when his delivery was prodded to Joe Root by Hamish Rutherford, who was dismissed eight runs short of his half-century.

Ross Taylor (9) and Dean Browline (3) will return for the evening session with the away side on 68-3.
