England close in on victory in the second Test with West Indies ending the day on 61-6 in their second innings.

England have taken control of the second Test at Trent Bridge against West Indies after a batting collapse in the final session left West Indies on 61-6 in their second innings.

Starting the day on 259-2, England's progress was halted by the tourists' bowlers as Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell were both dismissed in quick succession.

Jonny Bairstow struggled to cope with a number of short balls and soon became Roach's second victim of the morning with Andrew Strauss seeming to run out of partners when Matt Prior failed to keep out a straight ball from Darren Sammy.

The England skipper was finally dismissed after lunch by Sammy for a vital score of 141 which meant that Stuart Broad joined Tim Bresnan at the crease.

Broad played in a particularly attacking fashion and the duo put on a stand of 53 for the eigth wicket before Shane Shillingford and Marlon Samuels wrapped up the innings by taking the final three wickets with England having reached 428.

James Anderson bowled accurately with the new ball and claimed two early wickets by first forcing Kieran Powell to play on to his stumps before trapping Adrian Barath leg before wicket.

Kirk Edwards was absent from the batting lineup due to flu which meant that Shivnarine Chanderpaul was pushed up the order and Broad claimed the prolific batsman's wicket when he forced him into a rash shot and was caught by Jonathan Trott.

An impressive spell in the final stages of the day from Tim Bresnan was exactly what England required as the Yorkshire paceman dismissed Darren Bravo and Dinesh Ramdin before removing a returning Kirk Edwards for a duck to leave West Indies holding a lead of just three heading into day four.
