England have been dealt a blow by the news that bowler Tymal Mills will miss the rest of the T20 World Cup through injury.

The pace bowler played an important part during England's opening matches, taking seven wickets during wins over West Indies, Bangladesh and Australia.

However, during the early stages of his stint against Sri Lanka on Monday, the 29-year-old was forced off the pitch with a thigh problem.

After being assessed over the following 36 hours, Mills has withdrawn from the rest of the tournament.

Mills has been replaced in the squad by Reece Topley, who was acting as a reserve for England's 15-man group.

Topley will now compete with Mark Wood and Tom Curran for a place in the side against South Africa on Saturday.

Barring an unforeseen set of results, England are already effectively assured of a place in the semi-finals. body check tags ::
