Paul Farbrace: 'Andrew Strauss key to limited-overs success'

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace believes that Andrew Strauss deserves credit for improving the side's approach to limited-overs cricket.

England assistant coach Paul Farbrace has claimed that Andrew Strauss deserves to be given some credit for his role in changing the team's fortunes in limited-overs cricket.

Strauss was introduced as director of cricket as part of the shake-up of the England staff following their disastrous World Cup campaign, and his arrival has coincided with promising performances in all formats.

After claiming a one-day international series triumph over New Zealand earlier this year, Eoin Morgan's side are one win from clinching a 3-2 victory over world champions Australia.

"Straussy has made it very clear that one-day cricket is as important as Test cricket," Farbrace told reporters.

"He said that right from the start. He likes the idea of having a clear line between Test and one-day cricket and having a bigger squad of players.

"When a Test match finishes, players aren't just thinking about changing the ball and the colour of the kit. We've actually got people coming into the one-day squad who are desperate to do well."

England and Australia meet in the fifth ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday.
