India added just 59 runs during the morning session of day three of the third Test match with England to take their score to 146-4.
In a session that produced few highlights, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni coasted through unbeaten to edge towards England's total of 330.
England's bowlers produced plenty of effort in an attempt to pick up their fifth wicket but they toiled in the field as India's batsmen kept their composure on an increasingly slow wicket.
The tourists still lead by 174 runs but they will be opening to forge a lead going into the second innings with cracks expected to appear on the pitch in the final two days.
