The England selectors have reportedly decided that Joe Root is the man to replace Andrew Strauss as the nation's opening batsman.
Strauss called time on his international career last month following a home series defeat to South Africa, who also gained England's status as the world's number one Test side.
Michael Carberry, Nick Compton and Varun Chopra have all been touted as contenders to take over from the former captain.
However, 21-year-old Root will be given the chance to fill the void during the upcoming tour of India, according to several reports.
Root currently plays his county cricket for Yorkshire.
