Kevin Pietersen refuses to give up hope that he will be able to feature for England at next year's Twenty20 World Cup.

Kevin Pietersen has once again insisted that he would "love" to restart his international career with England, particularly with next year's Twenty20 World Cup in mind.

An international recall was effectively ruled out in May when new ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss highlighted a "massive trust issue" between the pair.

However, having scored 342 runs in four innings for the Sunfoil Dolphins at the recent T20 Ram Slam in South Africa, the clamour among fans and the media has intensified for the 35-year-old to come back into contention.

Pietersen was the Player of the Tournament when England won the trophy five years ago and asked whether he would be keen to have another crack, the batsman provided a positive reaction.

"I'm 35, I've got years left of playing. I've been very lucky. In all the franchises I've played in the last few years I've top scored in all of them," he told reporters.

"If the World T20 happens it happens. Of course I'd love to help Morgy (Eoin Morgan, captain) and I'd love to go out there and do well. We won one in 2010 and if an opportunity came up I would grab it with both hands. Do I think I could still make an impact? 100% I do. Of course."

Pietersen scored 1,176 runs from his 37 T20 appearances; only Morgan has racked up more runs.
