Peter Moores names his first England squad since being appointed head coach for the upcoming one-day international against Scotland.

England head coach Peter Moores and a new-look selection panel have named their first squad since the Lancashire coach returned to the setup.

A 13-man group has been chosen to feature in a warm-up one-day international against Scotland on May 9 ahead of this summer's series against Sri Lanka.

Captain Alastair Cook has returned to the setup after missing out on the one-day series against the West Indies, while Joe Root has been included after recovering from a hand injury.

James Anderson will feature in his first ODI match since June last year, while Nottinghamshire's Harry Gurney is the only uncapped player named in the squad.

Alex Hales was tipped to be included in the setup after becoming the first Englishman to score a century in Twenty20 cricket in the winter, but the batsman has been left out.

There are also no places for Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes, who are nursing knee and wrist injuries respectively.

England squad for ODI against Scotland: Cook, Ali, Anderson, Ballance, Bell, Bopara, Buttler, Gurney, Jordan, Morgan, Root, Tredwell, Woakes
