England batsman Eoin Morgan will play no further part in the one-day international series with India due to a shoulder injury.
The left-hander originally picked up the problem during last winter's Ashes series against Australia and the complaint returned during the recent Twenty20 match at Old Trafford.
"He will undertake further specialist assessment in the next week," England medical officer Dr Nick Peirce said.
"Unfortunately there has been an acute flare in his pain which has not responded to treatment. This is a chronic injury and predominantly effects Eoin's diving and throwing. He now requires a progression in his treatment."
The 24-year-old has featured in 48 internationals for England.
