Kevin Pietersen has been recalled to the England squad for next month's one-day tour of India.
The 31-year-old was recently dropped from the 50-over format of the game and questions were raised as to whether his ODI career with England was over.
However, with the absence of Eoin Morgan through injury in mind, the selectors have decided to include the Surrey batsman for the trip to the sub-continent.
Meanwhile, bowler James Anderson has been rested, with his place in the 16-man squad being taken by uncapped 22-year-old Stuart Meaker.
The Durban-born pace-bowler has been one of the quickest in domestic cricket for Surrey this season.
England squad: Cook (C), Bairstow, Bell, Bopara, Borthwick, Bresnan, Buttler (T20 only), Dernbach, Finn, Hales (T20 only), Kieswetter, Meaker, Patel, Pietersen, Swann, Trott, Woakes
