Moeen Ali is one of six cricketers who have been given central contracts by the ECB for the first time.

Six cricketers have been offered central contracts by the England and Wales Cricket Board for the first time.

Moeen Ali, Gary Ballance, Jos Buttler, Chris Jordan, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes are among those who have been rewarded after featuring in England Tests this summer.

However, Tim Bresnan and Jonathan Trott have not been kept on by the ECB, despite playing regular cricket for their counties, while Kevin Pietersen has also not been retained.

The 34-year-old was controversially dropped by the ECB following England's disastrous Ashes campaign in Australia last winter.

Injured Matt Prior and retired Graeme Swann have also had their central contracts taken away.

Central contracts: Moeen Ali, Jimmy Anderson, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler, Alastair Cook, Steve Finn, Chris Jordan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes

Incremental contracts: Ravi Bopara, Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan, Liam Plunkett, James Tredwell
