Captain Michael Yardy has committed his future to Sussex by agreeing a two-year extension to his contract.
The 31-year-old England international has battled with depression in recent times and he revealed that Sussex's understanding over the situation played a part in his decision to remain at the PROBIZ Country Ground.
"Sussex have shown a lot of understanding and patience with me over the last year and I am very focused and determined to produce my best cricket over the next few years," told the county's official website.
"I'm proud to be captain and lead a talented and committed squad who are hungry for success."
Spin-bowler Yardy made his Sussex debut in 2000.
