England ended their tour of Australia with heavy defeat, losing the final T20 international in Sydney by 84 runs.

England ended their tour of Australia with an appropriately heavy defeat, losing the final T20 international in Sydney by 84 runs this afternoon.

George Bailey struck 24 off the final over as the hosts posted a score of 195-6, a total that England never looked like chasing down, as the Aussies secured emphatic series wins in all three formats of the game.

Aaron Finch and Cameron White put on 48 for the first wicket before the former chipped Tim Bresnan to Stuart Broad, who was the pick of the England bowlers with figures of 3-30 from his four overs.

The touring skipper took the wickets of Glenn Maxwell, and then 39-year-old Brad Hodge and Dan Christian in the same over to reduce Australia to 139-6, but big hitting from Bailey smashed them towards 200.

He ended up 49 not out off just 20 balls, while Matthew Wade chipped in with an unbeaten 19, and when England openers Alex Hales and Luke Wright fell early, England had a mountain to climb.

Eoin Morgan did his best to keep them in the match with a typically fluid 34 off 20 balls, but Joe Root, Bresnan and Chris Jordan were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

Jade Dernbach, whose series figures with the ball were 11-0-141-1, was the last man to go, ran out by Bailey as England crumbled to 111 all out to finish their miserable tour down under with another defeat.
