England find themselves in a strong position at the end of day three in their first Test meeting with South Africa, as they close in on a first triumph at Lord's in four attempts.
The hosts were 244 runs to the good heading into Saturday's opening session, and they consolidated that healthy lead when bowling out the Proteas for 361 in their first innings.
From an overnight score of 214-5 the Proteas soon lost Quinton de Kock (51) and Vernon Philander (52), putting England 97 in front as they returned to bat.
Alastair Cook compiled 50 not out, while Keaton Jennings and Gary Ballance mustered 33 and 22 respectively, the former falling to De Kock but his teammate still standing strong come the end of play.
England are therefore now 216 runs ahead on 119-1, leaving them in a good position to declare on Sunday as they close in on that elusive Test victory at this ground.
