Azhar Mahmood hits a six off the final ball of the innings to hand Surrey a four-wicket win over Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast.

A six off the last ball of the match has handed Surrey a four-wicket win over Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast, keeping alive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

Having won the toss and decided to bat, Gloucestershire got off to a poor start as captain Michael Klinger fell for just two, but Hamish Marshall and Ian Cockbain soon got the visitors back on track.

Peter Handscomb and Geraint Jones both passed the 30-run mark as Gloucestershire kept adding the runs, but Benny Howell struggled, scoring just one.

Matthew Dunn was the pick of the bowlers for Surrey, picking up two wickets for just 15 runs, helping restrict the visiting side to 154.

The home side started their reply well, but the opening partnership was split when Jones stumped Jason Roy for 33 runs.

Kumar Sangakkara added 34 off just 33 balls, but saw a run of partners quickly come and go at the crease, before falling himself with three overs remaining and 20 still needed for victory.

Azhar Mahmood and Zafar Ansari were at the crease for the final over, needing nine for a Surrey win, but Ansari hooked the ball to Liam Norwell with just three balls left.

Two dot balls meant that Mahmood needed to hit six off the final delivery of the match, but the batsman pulled it behind square of leg to clear the boundary rope and secure the win.
