Hampshire batsman Owais Shah tells Sports Mole that "something must be done" to help the T20 Blast compete with the Big Bash League and IPL.

Hampshire batsman Owais Shah has said that changes need to be made to the current T20 Blast tournament in order to compete with the Big Bash and Indian Premier League.

Twenty20 cricket has grown in popularity over the years and numerous big-name internationals take part in the Big Bash League in Australia, as well as the IPL.

The T20 Blast is in just its second season on UK shores, and Shah, who scored an unbeaten 58 in Hampshire's 19-run win over Middlesex at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday night, believes that something must be done to emulate the success of overseas tournaments.

"We've got to do a bit more than what we're doing right now to compete with the Big Bash," Shah told Sports Mole. "The Big Bash and tournaments like IPL have gone leaps and bounds ahead of our Twenty20 considering we're the ones who started Twenty20.

"We certainly need to do something for the competition. I haven't seen much change from last year because there was a lot of talk that we were going to do something different. We have to do something, but I'm not sure what."

Hampshire's win has put them second behind Kent in the South Group.
