Hello everyone! It's the second day of the World Cup, and we've already been treated to some excellent performances. India and Pakistan now take centre stage at the Adelaide Oval as the two fierce rivals look to start their respective Pool B campaigns with a victory. It's a packed house in Adelaide, but you can follow all of the action with Sports Mole.

There's not many matches in world spot which produces as much passion in the stands and out on the field. Even if these two sides struggle to challenge for the title at this tournament, a victory for either nation in this game would be huge. India have won all five previous World Cup meetings between the two teams. Can Pakistan end that run today?

MS Dhoni and Misbah-ul-Haq can barely hear each other talk out in the middle as the supporters inside the ground look to make as much noise as possible. INDIA HAVE WON THE TOSS and Dhoni has confirmed that his side will bat first on what looks like a good pitch.

Defending champions India are always under pressure from their supporters to win every match, but they looked poor in the recent tri-series with Australia and England, while Pakistan have produced some promising displays in the build-up to this tournament. Dhoni will know that this game will inspire his players, so he'll be desperate for a good start.

What can we expect from Pakistan? They're never fancied by their critics, but we all know that Misbah's side can produce some stunning cricket when we least expect it, and momentum could be crucial for them in Pool B.

As you'll probably already know there's one game already underway in Pool B. Zimbabwe have been very impressive with the ball in hand, and South Africa are currently 136-4 at the end of the 32nd over as JP Duminy and David Miller lead the recovery following a disappointing start for the Proteas. We'll keep you updated with the action from Hamilton.

There's so many exciting names to keep an eye out for today. Will it be Shahid Afridi who steals the show in his final World Cup for Pakistan? The focus is on his bowling rather than batting these days, but when he is on form, he has the ability to inspire those around him. His experience alongside Misbah-ul-Haw and Younis Khan could be vital for Pakistan, who arrive at the tournament without key men Umar Gul and Saaed Ajmal.

As always in white ball cricket, the first 10-15 overs are going to be crucial. Pakistan will be optimistic that Mohammad Irfan can fire with the new ball. At 7'1'' he is the tallest player in international cricket, and there has been a lot of focus on him in the build-up to the game. Shikhar Dhawan, in particular, has been struggling for form in recent months. That battle could be interesting early on.

Here we go then. Two huge cricketing nations are almost ready to go head-to-head at the Adelaide Oval. Both sides are out in the middle for the national anthems.

Dhawan and Rohit Sharma open the batting for India. The noise is incredible already, and it's unlikely to quieten down until the final ball is bowled. Misbah gives his side a few more words of encouragement on the outfield and we're ready to go. Irfan will get the game underway with the ball. Only around a billion people interested in this game. Irfan starts by pushing the ball across Sharma, who has no interest in swinging outside off-stump early on. A straighter ball forces the opener into the first defensive stroke of the day, before a push through point brings a single. Dhawan opens the face of his bat to get off the mark with a run down to third-man. Irfan then produces a beauty to beat Sharma's outside edge. Umar Akmal, a surprise choice to keep wicket today, drops the ball. Pakistan will hope that's his one and only error.

Sohail Khan opens the bowling from the other end, and he immediately brings the ball back in to Dhawan. The seamer wants to review the decision. None of his teammates are so sure, and Misbah rejects his appeal. There was plenty of bat involved. Dhawan hands the strike to Sharma, who watches a wide slip down the leg-side before nudging a single to square-leg.

Irfan starts with a fuller ball outside off-stump and Sharma slices a drive away for a single. The big man pulls back his length for the first time to send a sharp bounce past Dhawan's edge. Excellent bowling. Close! A similar ball catches the edge, and Dhawan can only watch the ball sail wide of second slip. Two off the over.

Dhawan might prefer to attack Sohail rather than Irfan. He miscues a drive before pulling a single to mid-wicket. Rohit gets a leading edge on the next ball to rotate the strike again. Sohail delivers a gift outside off-stump as Dhawan frees his arms to cut for the first boundary of the day.

Shot! Irfan is slightly too straight at the start of a new over and Rohit cashes in to clip four runs past the man at short mid-wicket. A change of angle follows as Irfan looks to target the off-stump, and he finds the perfect line to beat the outside edge. Rohit uses a full toss to steer four runs to the boundary just in front of point. Good over for India.

Sohail is struggling to look dangerous, despite not offering up any freebies in the over. As you may have guessed we've got a few namesakes across the two sides, so we'll refer to some players by their first name, such as our friend Sohail. Decent stuff from the seamer. Four off the over.

The drop-in pitch in Adelaide looks like a batsman's paradise. That's probably the reason behind this steady start from India, who will be eager to dominate the Pakistan bowling attack when the two white balls get slightly older. The spinners will be vital today. Six! Dhawan has had enough of the steady start. There's no one out in the deep at this stage and Dhawan takes on the bouncer to launch six over square-leg. India then hurry a single when an inside edge sends the ball into the leg-side. Rohit finishes the over by steering a couple past backward point. Dhawan 16* Rohit 15

WICKET! ROHIT (15) C MISBAH B SOHAIL: Pakistan make the breakthrough as Rohit sends the ball straight up in the air while attempting to send Sohail to the other side of Adelaide. Misbah comes in from mid-on to take the easiest of catches.

One of India's biggest superstars comes to the crease at number three, but it's a nervy start from Virat Kohli as he edges the ball just short of second slip. That wicket looks to have given Sohail some extra pace as he gives Kohli a little stare when the batsman leaves one outside off-stump. Dhawan can't resist having a word either. Kohli gets off the mark with a single down to third-man.

It's a very hot day in Adelaide, so it will be hard work out in the field, even for these two sides. Pakistan will want to get Kohli as early as possible. They can't really afford to let him settle at the crease. It's been a decent start from the opening bowlers. A single from Kohli is followed by four when Dhawan flicks a fuller ball through fine-leg.

Sohail has found his rhythm in the last couple of overs, but he could be off soon as Misbah looks to save his seamers for later in the game. Kohli takes a single midway through the over, before Dhawan adds another to fine-leg. Good bowling from Sohail.

Pakistan make the first change of the day, and it's Shahid 'Boom Boom' Afridi who comes into the attack. He loves the big stage. Will India take him on early? Dhawan starts by nudging the leg-spinner into the leg-side for a single. He changes his pace nicely to Kohli, who looks comfortable defending on the back and front foot. Drop! It's not a great ball from Afridi, but he nearly takes the big wicket. Kohli sits back and looks to launch the ball over mid-wicket. Yazi Shah comes off the rope to get a hand on the ball, but he can't hold on while diving forward. Afridi applauds the effort. Kohli gets a life.

Sohail doesn't find the line and length he has been in the previous few overs as Dhawan and Kohli rotate the strike well early in the over. Kohli cashes in off the fifth ball to pull four through mid-wicket. Better from India's number three.

Dhawan advances down the crease to push Afridi to long-on for a single, and Kohli takes a run to the same position off the next ball. Another single follows, but it's a very good over from Afridi, whose top-spinner can surprise almost any batsman. Four runs scored.

Wahab Riaz comes into the attack for the first time. It's been sensible stuff from India early in this match, and it looks like a deliberate tactic to save wickets and build a platform for a late assault. We could see a lot of teams do that in this tournament. Dhawan cuts just past the diving fielder at point. That's his shot, but he didn't look in complete control there. Good running on show as India collect six off the over.

UPDATE: South Africa were 84-4 after 20 overs, but an ODI-record partnership of 256 for the fifth wicket from David Miller (138*) and JP Duminy (115*) has guided the Proteas to an excellent total of 339-4 in Hamilton. What an effort from those two! Miller also scored 30 off the 48th over from Solomon Mire. Incredible

We're still waiting for fireworks in this one. Afridi is capable of delivering the goods. Kohli picks up two when a drive sneaks past the man at short-cover. Afridi then gets his line slightly wrong, which allows Kohli to drop to one knee before sweeping for four runs. A flick off the pad hands the strike to Dhawan, who pushes a run to point. Dhawan 33* Kohli 21

Dhawan shuffles across the crease to nudge Riaz's first ball to mid-on for a single. Kohli's pace earns him a couple behind square on the leg-side. India's run-rate is creeping up. They're scoring at just below five an over. It's turning into a very good platform for the batting side. Pakistan need a wicket. Four off the over.

There's been no signs of turn from this pitch, but it could do a bit more for India's spinners later in the match. Dhawan and Kohli have looked to be more proactive in the last few overs, and they find the gaps well throughout Afridi's latest over. Batting is looking easy at the moment.

Kohli enjoys a slice of luck when an inside edge sends the ball through his legs, rather than onto the stumps. Riaz is left with hands on head in the middle of the pitch. Pakistan's quickest bowler, who is coming in at around 90mph, hands Dhawan a freebie down the leg-side, and the opener gets bat on ball to help himself to four through fine-leg. A late cut for one from Dhawan is followed by a single behind point for Kohli, who keeps the strike.

Misbah makes another change as Yasir Shah comes into the attack for the first time. This could be an interesting spell of cricket. The 28-year-old can change the game quickly with his leg-spin. Shane Warne is a big fan, so that's a pretty good sign. Shah immediately settles on a lovely line and length early in the over. Kohli takes the single on offer to deep cover four balls in. Shah is slightly too short to Dhawan, and the left-hander rocks back to cut four through the covers. Dhawan 45 Kohli 32*

Riaz attempts to cramp Kohli for room from round the wicket, but the batsman is looking in excellent touch as he opens the face of the bat to earn a single. Good communication from the two Indians out in the middle as Dhawan drops and runs to rotate the strike again. India pick up four from the over.

Good cricket from Dhawan as he skips down the crease to nudge Shah to mid-off for a quick run. Shot! Superb. Kohli advances to bring up three figure for India with four over extra cover. It gets even better. Kohli is barely offered any width, but he manages to steer the ball past two fielders to earn four through point. A couple of singles makes it 11 from the over.

50! Dhawan has been struggling for form recently, but this has been a good innings so far as he reaches the half-century with a single through third-man. It's come from 54 balls. Riaz is too short to Kohli, but the boundary rider restricts the batsman to a single. Shot! Dhawan spots the gap at the end of the over to cut for four runs. India are in control at the moment.

Misbah is starting to look concerned as he stops Shah early in the over to discuss tactics once again. The key to this innings has been India's ability to rotate the strike with apparent ease. Irfan is far too tall to put the dive in on the boundary as Kohli drives for four down the ground. The big man went down in stages! It's taken him a while to get up, too. 50! Kohli reaches his half-century from 60 balls with a single to fine-leg. Pakistan consider reviewing when the umpire rejects an lbw appeal. It would have missed leg-stump. Dhawan 55 Kohli 50*

Pakistan are looking to get back onto the front foot as Irfan returns and Misbah sticks a slip in for the opening bowler. A sharp bouncer midway through the over has Kohli thinking about the hook, but he leaves and the umpire signals a wide. Irfan then sends a fuller ball just past the outside edge. Kohli opens the face to get off strike with a single past point. India will be confident of getting 300+ from here. Five off the over.

Shah has bowled pretty well, but he hasn't made the impact Pakistan need him to so far. Misbah will be looking for inspiration from elsewhere soon. Decent over, but there's no threat to India. Four singles scored.

Umpire Ian Gould steps in to give Irfan an official warning for stepping on the middle of the pitch in his follow-through. He'll have to be careful now. Kohli is struck on the back by a throw from Afridi when he sneaks a single. Oh dear. Irfan moves round the wicket, before coming back over and picking up a second official warning. If he is caught stepping on the pitch again he'll have to come out of the attack. The big man looks to be tiring. Three off the over. Irfan will surely be coming off. The 100 partnership comes up off the 112th ball.

Akmal wants Shah to hit the stumps when Dhawan hits the ball straight back to the bowler, who decides against risking the overthrow. Riaz strikes the stumps with a fine throw from the deep when India hurry two runs. The umpire sends it upstairs. I don't know why. Dhawan was home having a cup of tea when the bails were dislodged. Five scored in Shah's latest over.

Haris Sohail is into the attack as Misbah desperately looks for the breakthrough. The spinner is slightly too short throughout the over as Kohli happily stays on the back foot to cut two to deep cover. A single to long-off hands the strike to Dhawan, who adds another to long-on. One more makes it five off the over. Dhawan 63 Kohli 62*

The tactics are clear from India, and these two are executing the plan perfectly. In truth, these two have taken very few risks since joining each other at the crease. Dhawan spots the big gap at mid-wicket to launch four runs to the rope off Shah. The wind picks up quickly to cause a few problems as the boundary rope needs some running repairs. Dhawan plays the shot of the day by moving around on the crease before drilling four through extra cover. Excellent cricket. 12 from the over.

Kohli and Dhawan continue to do an excellent job of picking the gaps and rotating the strike. Haris Sohail offers a gift to Kohli with a wider ball, and the batsman accepts with a cut for four runs. There's a worrying moment for Dhawan when the ball hits the stumps at the non-striker's end after the two Indians hesitate over a single. The decision goes upstairs.

WICKET! DHAWAN (73) RUN OUT (SHEHZAD): Replays suggest that Kohli sold his partner a dummy. It's a fine throw from Shehzad and Dhawan didn't get back. An excellent knock comes to an end. Pakistan needed that breakthrough.

Kohli hits the final ball of the over for two after a short drinks break. Suresh Raina comes out ahead of Ajinkya Rahane at number four.

No dramas for Raina at the start of his innings as India pick up five runs from Shah's over. Pakistan have to keep the pressure on now after that breakthrough. They'll want another couple of wickets as soon as possible.

It's a bit of a surprise that Misbah hasn't turned to one of his strike bowlers to put pressure on Raina, who is being allowed to play himself in against the spin. Drop! Huge moment in the innings. Haris Sohail catches Kohli's edge, but Akmal, who doesn't usually keep wicket for Pakistan, puts the chance down. They have to take those chances.

There is a chance now as Afridi comes into the attack to replace Shah. Three runs come early in the over, before Kohli enjoys some more luck when an inside edge sends the ball between his legs. Kohli and Raina react well to pick up three to fine-leg. India take eight from Afridi's return. Kohli 80* Raina 9

Six! Raina plays one fine shot for no runs to mid-off, before earning six over mid-wicket. Shah got a hand on the ball in the deep, but he could only flick it over the boundary rope. Rain bought a ticket, and he gets his reward. India might be thinking about stepping up the tempo.

Afridi races through his over as he looks to put the pressure on India, but both Kohli and Raina are happy to settle for singles. Just two off the over. It's time for the five-over batting powerplay.

Riaz, who has five overs left to bowl, returns for the start of a crucial spell. He'll be involved at the death too due to his ability to bowl the yorker. Raina stays on the back foot to work a single down to third-man. Kohli adds another to hand the strike back to his partner, who steers a run past point. A single to deep cover makes it four from a good Riaz over.

Irfan is back into the attack, and he'll bowl from around the wicket to stop himself from running onto the pitch. Rain looks in good touch early in his innings as he pushes a single through extra cover. Pakistan are doing pretty well to keep it tight in the powerplay, though. No boundaries yet. Misbah can only have three men out in the fielding restrictions and Raina takes advantage to pull four over mid-wicket, despite not making great contact with the shot. Another pull brings a single to the left-handed batsman. Riaz produces a beauty to beat Kohli on the inside edge. That's unplayable. Six off the over. Good response to the boundary from Riaz.

Kohli knows fine-leg is up, and he uses a poor delivery from Irfan to flick four runs off the pads. Misbah is not happy with his bowler. A single hands the strike to Raina, who misses out when he pulls a leg-side ball straight to the fielder at fine-leg. Irfan's latest bounce is called as a wide. Kohli 92 Raina 28*

Riaz is still hitting the pitch hard and refusing to offer any freedom to the Indians. Misbah will be very happy with this spell in the powerplay from the seamer, but there's a long way to go in this innings. Just four singles from the over. 60 balls left. It could be carnage.

Neither Raina or Kohli make great contact with heaves across the line at the start of Afridi's new spell, but both pick up singles. Raina looks to be desperate to start teeing off as Kohli edges closer to his century. India find seven runs in the over. Kohli 97* Raina 34

Kohli gets off strike with a single to mid-wicket as Shah returns to the attack, and Raina does well to find two with a nudge to wide long-on. Six! Raina was itching to go and he makes the charge down the pitch to launch the ball over the mid-wicket boundary. Kohli gets the strike back and moves to 99 with another single.

100! Kohli gets there. A single is taken down the ground and the helmet comes off to huge applause from the Indians in the stands. His century comes from 119 balls. There's not many better than him in this format of the game. He might put his foot down. Six! Raina is already in attack mode as he slog-sweeps over square-leg for another maximum. 50! The half-century then comes up with a single down the ground. These two look eager to punish Pakistan. 10 from Afridi's over, which only lasts five balls. The umpire has missed a ball.

Pakistan think they have Raina caught down the leg-side on Sohail Khan's return to the attack, but Ian Gould shakes his head. Misbah decides to use the review on offer. If anything it may have flicked the thigh-pad. There's certainly no bat or glove involved. Good decision from Mr Gould. Sohail loses his line later in the over, and with fine-leg up, Raina just has to help the ball to the boundary. Raina then gives himself room to club four more down the ground. Shot! Raina shuffles across this time to loft four behind square on the leg-side. Two more makes it 14 from the over.

Kohli brings up the century partnership with four into a big space at mid-wicket. Irfan gets away with a no-ball when a high full toss is somehow guided down to third-man for a single by Kohli. Shot! Raina is on one leg as he moves on the crease again to pull four over square-leg. Wow. The umpires missed a no-ball earlier, but they can't miss this one as Irfan clears Raina's head. WICKET! KOHLI (107) C AKMAL B SOHAIL: Everyone inside the Adelaide Oval stands to applause Kohli for a magnificent hundred. He departs after edging a wider one through to Akmal. Big celebrations from Sohail, who now has to bowl at MS Dhoni!

Shot! Dhoni defends the first one before unleashing a powerful drive to reach the boundary. India are still well set to reach 300 in the next four overs.

Riaz is back into the attack for his final spell. An attempted yorker turns into a full-toss, but Raina can't find the gap. A lofted shot over mid-wicket hands him just a single as Younis Khan cleans up in the deep. Dhoni is trying to hit the ball too hard as he's forced to accept a single to mid-off. A miscued pull from Raina falls short of the fielder on the fine-leg boundary as India rotate the strike again. Dhoni adds one more to make it four from the over. Excellent work from Riaz.

Dhoni takes the single at the start of Sohail's over. Raina thinks a wide should be given next ball, but he's moved so far across the crease that Ian Gould is right not to react.

WICKET! RAINA (74) C HARIS B SOHAIL: Raina goes for another big shot but he can only send the ball straight up in the air. Haris takes a good catch on the run. Raina departs with 74 from 56 balls. Great knock, but Pakistan are finishing well.

India send in Ravindra Jadeja to join Dhoni at the crease, and he's another man who can score a lot of runs in the closing stages of innings. Dhoni trades singles with his new partner before clubbing a huge six into the stands on the leg-side when Sohal delivers a full toss. That ruins a very good over from the seamer.

There's confusion between the two men in the middle. Afridi misses one run out chance to dismiss Dhoni, before Shah fails to send Jadeja packing. The noise is incredible as Riaz charges in to bowl another sharp delivery which is nudge into the off-side for a single. He's bowling at around 94mph now. India struggle to handle the pace and Riaz manages to concede just four runs from the first five balls.

WICKET! JADEJA (3) B RIAZ: Superb from Riaz. Moments after hitting 94mph, he pulls his pace back to bowl a swinging Jadeja. That's a superb over. Four runs and a wicket from it. Rahane joins Dhoni for the final six balls.

WICKET! DHONI (18) C MISBAH B SOHAIL: Dhoni miscues the big shot and Misbah comes in to take the easy catch. Pakistan are finishing very impressively.

WICKET! RAHANE (0) B SOHAIL: Five for Sohail! He hits the top of off-stump to send Rahane packing for a duck. The seamer is on a hat-trick.

Superb from Sohail as he comes agonisingly close hitting Mohammed Shami's off-stump with a yorker. A sliced single to third-man hands the strike to the other new batsman Ravichandran Ashwin, who adds a run with a nudge off the pads. Shami hits two more over point to bring up 300. India manage just eight runs off the final two overs of the innings. Credit goes to Riaz and Sohail, who have bowled superbly at the death.

It's not going to be easy for Pakistan, but they'll take some momentum into the run-chase. A stunning century from Kohli and great knocks from Dhawan and Raina take India to 300. Sohail Khan finishes with 5-55 from 10 overs. Pakistan will have to bat very well to win the match, but it's certainly possible on a very good batting pitch.

UPDATE: Zimbabwe were in good shape chasing down 340 against South Africa, but they've slipped to 221-5 and they still need 119 with just over 11 overs remaining.

Let's get back to our game in Adelaide. It's Ahmed Shezhad who opens the batting with Younis Khan, which is a new partnership for Pakistan at the top of the order. Will Pakistan attack early? Or will they look to keep wickets in hand for a late charge in the final 15 overs? You can chase down 301 on this Adelaide track, but Pakistan need to play well. Umesh Yadav will bowl the first over. 301 is the target. Play!

Poor start from Yadav as he sends a wide down the leg-side. He strays onto the pads later in the over to allow Shezhad to get off the mark with a single to fine-leg, but recovers well to beat Younus on the outside edge. That's the perfect length.

Good start from Shami as he strikes Shezhad in the ribs with a nasty ball to start the over. The batsman finds a single which allows him to recover at the non-striker's end. Shami looks in great rhythm as he continues to bowl with good pace throughout the over. India would love an early wicket. Younus keeps the strike by taking a run to third-man.

Shot! Lovely timing from Younus as he leans on a fuller ball to whip four through mid-wicket. Yadav responds well to catch a thick edge which races away for a single. Both Indian bowlers have hit the bat hard early in the innings, which is not something we've always seen over the years. A straight ball allow Shezhad to nudge two into the leg-side. WICKET! YOUNUS (6) C DHONI B SHAMI: Superb from Shami as he delivers the perfect bouncer to catch the glove, and Younus can only watch Dhoni take the easiest of catches after the skipper took a few steps to his left. That's a big wicket for India.

Haris Sohail, who has played in just 12 ODIs, is the new batsman. Dhoni is furious when Mohit Sharma spills the ball on the leg-side to gift Pakistan's number three a couple of runs. Shami comes back over the wicket, but the change of angle brings a wide. Great over from Shami, though.

(TARGET 301) There's pressure on these two to build a partnership capable of providing a platform for later in the innings. Shehzad gets across his crease to nudge a single into the leg-side. Haris opens the face of his bat to steer four through the gully region. Yadav responds with a bouncer, but it's an easy wide to call for the umpires. Shot! Haris can play some shots. The timing is perfect as he picks up four more through mid-wicket. It just gets better. A fuller ball outside off-stump is driven to the extra cover boundary. It's a poor over from Yadav.

Shehzad is more than happy to give the strike to Haris, who earns a couple with a push through point. Another wide is delivered when Shami hits back with a bouncer. Haris is delighted to miss the ball when Shami takes one away from the outside edge, but the bowler another bouncer is correctly called as a wide. Chance! Haris calls for a crazy second run, and he slips halfway down the pitch. However, Dhoni flicks the bails off at the wrong end without looking. It's a big mistake from the captain.

Mohit Sharma is into the attack for the first time following Yadav's struggles in his previous over. Haris picks out the fielder on the off-side with a couple of firm shots, but Mohit gifts the batsman a free hit with a front-foot no-ball. Shami really charges in every ball. It's a lovely bowling action to watch, and he uses the bouncer well on this occasion to force Shehzad into a duck. Shot! He needs to treat the short ball as a surprise delivery, though. Shehzad is ready for this one as he rocks back to pull four through mid-wicket. Shami then loses his line to deliver a wide. Too many extras early in the innings from India.

Mohit looks to be finding a very nice rhythm. He's one of those bowlers who deliver a 'heavy ball' and he looks like a tough man to get away. Sharma does superbly at point to stop a sliced drive from Haris, who then finds a single behind square on the leg-side. Close! Mohit finishes with a lovely ball which nips past the edge of Shehzad's bat.

(TARGET 301) Haris plays a lovely drive, but the man on the edge of the circle restricts him to just a single. It's a fine over from Shami, who refuses to give Shehzad any freedom to find the gaps.

RESULT! South Africa have survived a tough test from Zimbabwe to record what in the end is a comfortable 62-run victory. That's a good start for the Proteas in ODI cricket.

Shami could well be finished for a little while, which means Dhoni may turn to one of the spinners in a moment. Mohit continues his fine spell with another tight over as Pakistan pick up just a single. The seamer has found the right length on this pitch, and he is just waiting for a mistake from either batsman.

Dhoni decides to save Ashwin and Jadeja for later as Raina comes on for the first sight of spin in the innings. Raina will give the ball every chance to turn, but there's not much spin on this track. Haris gets his front foot forward to push a single into the off-side, and Shehzad cuts for a couple more. A similar shot brings the same result to deep cover. One more makes it six off the over. Shot! Shehzad has been happy to let his partner play most of the shots, but he charges forward now to pull four runs over mid-wicket. It's a good tactic to put Mohit off his length. The seamer responds well, though, and he almost sneaks a yorker onto the stumps. Just the boundary and a quick single to mid-on from the over.

Raina's spell lasts just one over as Ashwin comes into the attack for the first time. He should enjoy the extra bounce this pitch will offer. The fielders on the leg-side stop Shehzad from finding the single early in the over, and Ashwin manages to race through six dot balls. Excellent maiden from the spinner.

Mohit comes around the wicket, but he's too straight at the start of the over as Haris clips a couple of runs off his thigh pad. An open-faced shot brings a single down to third-man. Mohit certainly looks more comfortable bowling at the right-handed Shehzad, who shrugs off a couple of dots by lofting four runs over mid-off. Shehzad goes again, and despite making poor contact with the shot down the ground, he picks up two more.

Haris gets off strike at the start of the over to end Ashwin's run of dot balls. Shehzad sweeps for the first time to pick up a run behind square. Another sharp run follows a nudge into the off-side. Dhoni brings in a leg-slip, but Ashwin doesn't find the right line at first. However, Raina is almost in business in that position when Shehzad flicks the ball just past him. Five off the over.

Jadeja is into the attack now as Dhoni goes for spin from both ends. Pakistan need to keep the scoreboard ticking over against the spinners. That's exactly what they do as the men in green pick the gaps to collect seven runs. Shehzad 30 Haris 33*

Pakistan have lost all seven ODIs when they've been forced to chase in Adelaide. Can they end that poor run today? They've made a solid start. Ashwin is backed up by some good fielding from his teammates as he delivers five dot balls in a row.

WICKET! HARIS (36) C RAINA B ASHWIN: Superb from Ashwin. Five dot balls are followed by a wicket as a slightly quicker ball catches the edge to send the ball to Raina, who takes a smart catch at first slip. Credit to Dhoni for attacking with his spinner. It's a wicket maiden from Ashwin!

The captain is in. Misbah is the key man from here, and Pakistan really need him to deliver. Shehzad continues to look comfortable as he cuts a couple of runs to deep cover. Jadeja changes his pace up well throughout the over. India's spinners could make the difference here. Shehzad gets himself into big trouble by calling for a crazy two. Yadav fires in the throw from the deep and Dhoni does well to flick the ball onto the stumps. Shehzad puts in the dive, and replays shows he just made it in.

(TARGET 301) It's a nervy looking shot from Misbah first up as he drops to his knee to miss with the sweep. The skipper gets off the mark with a single to long-on. Ashwin bowls a rare poor delivery by losing his length to allow Shehzad to cut four through point. Shot! There's nothing wrong with this delivery this time, but Shehzad shows great footwork to skip down the pitch and loft four more over mid-off. Great batting from the opener. Shehzad 42 Misbah 1*

Great captaincy from Dhoni to put a slip and a leg-slip in for Jadeja. He knows that a two or three wickets now could take the game away from Pakistan. It's all about building pressure in the middle overs. Jadeja does his concedes three runs from the first five balls, before Shehzad adds a couple more with the latest of cuts.

Yadav lost his length towards the end of his first spell, but he's back into the attack now as India look to put the pressure on Misbah, who gets off strike with a single to deep mid-wicket. The Pakistan captain is furious with Shehzad for some poor communication which almost results in a mix-up. Shehzad does it again a couple of balls later before scrambling back to get home. There's no need to panic at this stage of the innings, but it does look like the nerves are creeping in as the opener misses with a wild swing outside off-stump. Just one from the Yadav over. Good return for the seamer.

Jadeja gives the ball some flight, but Misbah gets forward to push a single into the covers. Shehzad rocks back to add the run which brings up three figures. It's a lovely over from the left-arm spinner. Three from it.

WICKET! SHEHZAD (47) C JADEJA B YADAV: Is this the turning point? Shehzad has looked in superb form, and he smacks the cut shot confidently. However, the ball goes straight to Jadeja, who juggles before taking the catch at the second time of asking at backward point.

WICKET! MAQSOOD (0) C RAINA B YADAV: Pakistan are on the ropes now! Yadav gets another wicket as Sohaib Maqsood's loose shot sends an edge to Raina, who takes another fine catch at a wide slip.

Umar Akmal is immediately tested as he blocks one and leaves another teaser outside off-stump. Yadav delivers the goods for his side at a crucial period in the match.

Pakistan needs these two to stay together for a long time to stand any chance of reaching this total. Dhoni is refusing to take the pressure off as slip and leg-slip come into the game again. There's a huge appeal for caught behind off Akmal, and India are convinced. It's given not out, and India review!

WICKET! AKMAL (0) C DHONI B JADEJA: Snicko didn't show much, despite it sounding like there was the faintest of noises. In truth, it doesn't look like enough to overturn the decision without Hotspot in use. However, the third umpire sends Akmal on his way.

(TARGET 301) Afridi is the man who comes out to replace Akmal. Can he deliver something special? Pakistan finish the over with two singles. That decision may have angered Pakistan. Before the replay it felt like there was an edge, but I'm not sure if the evidence was there to overturn the original decision.

Misbah and Afridi need to produce some magic to give their side a chance from here. The skipper opens the face to steer a single down to third man. That will please India, who would prefer to bowl at Afridi. 'Boom Boom' looks wary of the short ball as he earns a single into the leg-side after dodging a bouncer the previous delivery. Pakistan pick up four runs in the over.

Six! Afridi only knows how to play one way. He rocks onto the back foot to launch a shorter ball from Jadeja into the stands. Another lofted shot follows, this time into the off-side, and the ball falls just short of Kohli in the deep. It's good fielding from India's hero with the bat. Better from Pakistan, but they need a lot more.

It's no surprise to see Dhoni turn to Ashwin again as they look to keep the pressure on. Misbah hasn't looked comfortable since arriving at the crease, which is unusual. It's the perfect return from Ashwin as he uses his change of pace superbly to deliver a maiden. Misbah 12 Afridi 11*

There's another change as Mohit comes back to replace Jadeja. Afridi will find it tough to attack the seamer, who surprises the veteran with a sharp bouncer. He wasn't even close to connecting with the wild hook. Afridi works a full ball into the leg-side for a single. Just four more runs follow. Pakistan still need 177 off 126.

Misbah and Afridi are finding the singles now, and the latter shows more attacking intent late in Ashwin's over to slog-sweep for four runs. He's got to keep attacking. If Pakistan are going to stay alive, these two will have to do most of the work.

Mohit, into his seventh over, has done a good job for Dhoni despite not finding a wicket yet. Four identical deliveries bring just one run for Pakistan, before Afridi hammers a pull shot to the fielder in the deep for a single. Excellent stuff from Mohit once again.

Jadeja is back to replace fellow spinner Ashwin. A poor short ball costs just a single when Afridi pulls to the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Misbah adds another to give the strike back to his partner, who sweeps through square-leg for another run. Nothing wrong with that over from Jadeja. Misbah 20 Afridi 21*

Misbah takes the five-over batting play in the hope that he and Afridi can bring the required run-rate down a bit before the closing stages of the innings. Dhoni responds by bringing back Shami, whose opening yorker runs away off the pad for a leg-bye. Shami's pace is good as he sends down a couple of bouncers. Misbah backs away to the leg-side, but he can only find Kohli with a firm cover drive. Great work from Shami. Only two runs from the over.

Shot! Misbah gets it right this time as he steps away to drill the ball through the covers for four on Yadav's return to the attack. Another boundary follows when a leg-side full toss is worked past Rahane at short fine-leg. Misbah then gives the strike to Afridi, who hammers a cut straight to the fielder for a single. Much better from Pakistan. India were 190-2 at this stage of their innings.

WICKET! AFRIDI (22) C KOHLI B SHAMI: Afridi is right to take on the full toss, but he can only slice into the air on the off-side. Kohli runs back to take a fine catch over his shoulder. A replay proves that the delivery was legal and Afridi is forced to depart.

Misbah takes a single to five the strike to Wahab Riaz, who averages just 12 in ODI cricket. Dhoni is powerless to prevent four leg-byes when Shami loses his line.

WICKET! RIAZ (0) C DHONI B SHAMI: Shami gets another as Riaz can only edge a wide one through to Dhoni, who takes a very good low catch. It's surely all over now in Adelaide.

(TARGET 302) Yasir Shah comes to the crease to keep out his first two balls confidently. Misbah would have to produce something incredible to stop his side from slipping to an emphatic defeat from this position.

Six! Misbah loves pressure. The skipper drops to one knee to launch the returning Ashwin into the stands with the slog-sweep. He then rejects the chance to take a single. Ashwin fires a wide down the leg-side, before seeing Misbah cut a couple of runs through point. He does take the single later in the over, and Shah adds another. Shot! Four more to Misbah with another powerful cut. Misbah 44 Shah 1*

Shah takes a risk with a quick single to get off strike at the start of Shami's new over. Misbah is timing everything now as he lofts four runs straight down the ground. A clever late cut brings him two more through third-man, and that is his HALF-CENTURY. It gets even better as he shuffles across the crease to whip four more through mid-wicket. He really is an excellent player. Shami responds well to beat the edge with a slower ball. Misbah takes the single off the final ball to keep the strike.

Jadeja is back on and he produces a very good over to halt Pakistan's progress. Just three runs scored from the six balls. Pakistan need 117 off 72.

Yadav is punished for a wide, but it's perhaps a bit harsh as Misbah had backed away to the leg-side. Shah is being trusted to face the seamers now as Misbah picks up an easy single. Pakistan's number nine looks comfortable as he guides a late cut into the gap for one. Misbah then pulls a single to deep square-leg to keep the strike.

(TARGET 302) Brilliant batting from Misbah as he executes the perfect reverse-sweep to collect four runs. Jadeja responds by sending down a quicker one which is pushed down the ground for one. Shah picks up another with a nudge into the off-side. Misbah then has a big swing and Jadeja is agonisingly close to hitting the off-stump.

Ouch. Shah walks away to take a few moments after being struck by a sharp bouncer from Yadav. A wide down the leg-side hands Pakistan another freebie. Raina does brilliantly at short fine-leg to stop Shah from picking up a single. Yadav hits back with a sharp bounce, but Shah gets enough bat on ball to hook a run to fine-leg.

Shot! Great effort from Shah as he slog-sweeps the returning Ashwin for four runs. The spinner hits the pad when Shah attempts the same shot, but Ian Gould correctly says that the ball would have went over the stumps.

Mohit is back into the attack for a new spell. Even if Pakistan go on to lose, and it looks like they will, Misbah could finally reach three figures in an ODI. It's incredible to think that such a talented and consistent player hasn't recorded a century in this format. Drop! Shah takes on the short ball and is given a life when Shami drops the catch while diving forward. It would have been a stunner.

WICKET! SHAH (13) C YADAV B MOHIT: The luck runs out for Shah as he hits Mohit straight to Yadav, who takes an easy catch at mid-on. India edge another step closer to the win.

Sohail Khan manages to keep out his first ball. Will he hang around long enough to help his captain to a century? Misbah has still got a long way to go. Misbah 64* Sohail 0

Kohli is having the time of his life in the field. He's already scored a century and now he decides to have a confrontation with Sohail Khan. Misbah isn't interested, and he orders his teammate to get on with the game. Superb from Misbah! He launches Jadeja for four over mid-wicket, before making it three successive boundaries with a couple of sweep shots. It looks like he's playing a different game to his teammates.

Yadav comes back into the attack and he looks eager to finish this match quickly. Sohail isn't sure what to do against the pace early in the over, but an unorthodox pull does bring him four runs. Yadav recovers from a wide to finish with a couple of sharp bouncers. Pakistan need 81 from 30 balls.

Shami decides it's time for some nasty stuff as he comes around the wicket to target Misbah, who takes on the second ball but refuses to accept the offer of a single.

WICKET! MISBAH (76) C RAHANE B SHAMI: Misbah's brave challenge is over as he miscues Shami straight to Rahane at mid-on. India are one wicket away now. Irfan comes out to the middle to survive a couple of balls as Shami somehow manages to send a bouncer past the 7'1'' bowler's head.

Sohail turns Mohit around the corner to earn two runs at the start of a new over, before nudging a single to long-on. Batting really does look like a struggle for Irfan, but he manages to get bat on ball when Mohit goes full. Pakistan's number 11 then picks up his first run with a push down the ground.

WICKET! SOHAIL (7) C YADAV B MOHIT: It's all over in Adelaide. Yadav takes the routine catch at long-on when Sohail sends the big shot straight up into the air. India beat their rivals for the sixth successive time at the World Cup. It's a win which gives Dhoni's side a big boost at the start of the tournament. Pakistan need to recover as soon as possible ahead of their second match with the West Indies.

INDIA WIN BY 76 RUNS: Shami finishes with 4-35, while Yadav and Mohit each picked up two wickets. Ashwin and Jadeja chipped in with a wicket apiece. Kohli's ton and excellent contributions from Dhawan and Raina set them up, and Pakistan's batting lineup just haven't managed to produce the goods under pressure.
