India reach tea on day one in the second Test against South Africa in a commanding position.

India have improved on their strong start to the first day of the second Test match against South Africa and have lost no further wickets in the second session, finishing on 163-1.

The visitors lost just one wicket in an encouraging opening session, with Shikhar Dhawan dismissed for 29, but Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay have taken them into a commanding position at tea.

Vijay was patient with the bat before lunch and he remained so after it, moving from 33 to 76 with some well-placed boundaries.

Pujara followed Vijay to his 50 just before the end of the session with a brilliant drive to the extra cover boundary, giving him a platform to build on for the rest of the day.

The Indian batsmen were particularly impressive against Dale Steyn, despite the ball starting to swing, waiting for it to arrive onto the bat as the Proteas seamer struggled with his economy. He has so far been hit for 47 runs off 12 overs.
