The ECB release a statement on Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale, who was banned from lifting the County Championship trophy today.

The England and Wales Cricket Board have released a statement regarding the ongoing disciplinary process involving Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale.

The 30-year-old was not allowed to lift the County Championship trophy at Trent Bridge today following Yorkshire's victory over Nottinghamshire due to suspension.

Gale was banned from the match for "using language or gesture that is obscene or of a serious insulting nature" during an altercation with Lancashire's Ashwell Prince earlier this month.

The incident occurred on the third evening of Yorkshire's innings and 18-run win at Old Trafford.

After today's title-winning celebrations, the ECB released a statement saying: "After an incident at the recent LV= County Championship match between Lancashire and Yorkshire, the England and Wales Cricket Board made a formal complaint to the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) about the conduct of the Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale.

"On receipt of this complaint the CDC has decided to convene a Disciplinary Panel Hearing to consider the matter. In these circumstances it was not felt appropriate for Mr Gale to be involved in today's LV= County Championship Division One trophy presentation at Trent Bridge.

"The ECB will not make any further comment until the disciplinary process is concluded."

Yorkshire won the title for the first time in 13 years.
