Cook was joined by Essex team-mate Simon Harmer.

Bob Willis Trophy winners Sir Alastair Cook and Simon Harmer took their place alongside some of the county game's up-and-coming talent in the Professional Cricketers' Association team of the season.

The XI, which spans all formats and is determined by a detailed algorithm ranking performances, sees former England captain Cook lead the way among batsmen following his title-deciding 172 for Essex in last week's Lord's final, with team-mate Harmer rewarded for yet another prolific season with the ball.

Beaten first-class finalists Somerset have three representatives in the team – rising star Tom Lammonby included after hitting centuries in three successive BWT games, with new-ball duo Craig Overton and Josh Davey also recognised.

Lammonby is the youngest name on the list at 20, with Kent's indefatigable all-rounder Darren Stevens the oldest at 44.

Surrey's Will Jacks, Gloucestershire's Ryan Higgins and Nottinghamshire's Ben Duckett can still earn more points in Vitality Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston this weekend.

PCA Team of the Season for 2020: Sir Alastair Cook (Essex), Jake Libby (Worcestershire), Tom Lammonby (Somerset), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire),  Will Jacks (Surrey), Chris Cooke (Glamorgan), Ryan Higgins (Gloucestershire), Craig Overton (Somerset), Simon Harmer (Essex, capt), Darren Stevens (Kent), Josh Davey (Somerset).
