Pakistan finish on 537-5 on day three of the first Test against Bangladesh following a double century from Mohammad Hafeez.

Pakistan have reached stumps on day three of the first Test against Bangladesh in Khulna on 537-5.

The visitors were helped in no small part by Mohammad Hafeez, who notched a Test double hundred.

Pakistan began the day on 227-1 and quickly set about racking up the score, with Hafeez and Azhar Ali contributing a 200-run partnership for the second wicket.

After Ali was dismissed, Younis Khan and Hafeez saw them through to lunch, but the former lost his wicket at the beginning of the afternoon session to give Bangladesh some hope.

Misbah-ul-Haq arrived at the crease and a few balls later, Hafeez brought up his 200 with a sweep down the leg side for two. The pair guided Pakistan past 400 until Hafeez's fine innings came to an end on 224 when he was caught out by Mahmudullah.

The tourists began the afternoon session on 422-4 and quickly set about adding to their total with Misbah and Asad Shafiq in the middle.

Tajul Islam claimed the wicket of Misbah for 59, though, when the batsman attempted a sweep that caught the top edge of the bat, giving Rubel Hossain the catch.

Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed both brought up half-centuries to guide their side past the 500-mark as Bangladesh struggled to find another wicket.

Pakistan's lead is now 205 runs and they will resume on the fourth day with Shafiq and Ahmed both on 51.
