The Perth Scorchers win the Big Bash League by beating the Hobart Hurricanes by 39 runs in the final.

The Perth Scorchers have clinched the Big Bash title on their third straight attempt in the final with a comfortable 39-run victory over the Hobart Hurricanes.

The Scorchers took to the bat first with Craig Simmons and Simon Katich, but they were dealt an early wobble when Katich was dismissed for six with his side on just 11 runs.

Simmons has scored 102 and 112 in two of his last three Big Bash outings, so the onus was on him to push up the run-rate, which he managed to do in a positive partnership with Shaun Marsh.

After hitting four boundaries and two sixes, Simmons eventually fell having taken 45 from 36 deliveries, while Adam Voges later followed on 27.

Mitchell Marsh hit three back-to-back sixes off Dimitri Mascarenhas, but the batsman was taken out by Xavier Doherty after taking 37 runs from 12 balls.

Marsh surpassed his half-century and finished the innings unbeaten alongside Nathan Coulter-Nile (4 not out) on 63 as the Scorchers posted 191-4.

Ben Dunk and Tim Paine began the reply for the Hobart Hurricanes, but both players were sent packing early in their innings when Paine was bowled out by Jason Behrendorff for seven, while Dunk fell after taking 17 runs from 14 balls.

Jonathan Wells tried to steady the innings before he was taken out for 24, but George Bailey was able to calm proceedings by hitting six boundaries and two sixes.

However, he was eventually dismissed on 58 from 32 balls following Travis Birt's exit for just two, while Evan Gulbis couldn't do much better as he fell for just six runs, four of which came from a boundary.

After 20 overs, the Hurricanes posted 152-7.
