Somerset have announced that Alfonso Thomas will skipper the side in one-day matches this season.
The 38-year-old bowler, who arrived at the County Ground back in 2008, will also take charge of the team in the upcoming T20 Blast.
"Alfonso has played a huge amount of T20 cricket in the last few seasons both here and abroad. He has tasted success in the IPL, the BPL and the Big Bash," coach Matt Maynard told the club's official website.
"His experiences of the intricacies of the T20 game at the highest level make him the ideal captain for the shorter form of the game."
It has also been confirmed that Marcus Trescothick will continue to lead the team in County Championship fixtures.
