The third and final match of the one-day international series between New Zealand and South Africa at Hamilton is abandoned due to rain.

The final match of the one-day international series between South Africa and New Zealand was abandoned due to rain, with the Proteas claiming the series 2-0.

Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to field in Hamilton. The Kiwis struck early in the sixth over when Matt Henry removed Hashim Amla for 12.

Henry notched his second wicket in his next over when he removed Rilee Rossouw for a duck, clinging on to a return catch to leave the tourists 40-2.

Quinton de Kock and David Miller moved the innings past the 50-run mark and looked solid at the crease before Miller was bowled by James Neesham for 17.

AB de Villiers arrived at the crease and along with De Kock began to take the attack to the Kiwis' bowlers. The duo moved South Africa past the 100-run mark as De Kock began to take charge and he brought up his 50 off 67 deliveries.

Their 50 partnership arrived in just 46 balls as De Kock began to find the boundary with ease and moved the score past 150 in the 30th over, looking well poised for a century on 80 not out.

However, the rain came down and stopped the innings. The weather proved to be too intense for the match to continue and as a result the game was abandoned.
