South Africa continued to make steady progress on day one of the first Test match with Pakistan as they reached 159-4 at tea.
After reaching lunch on 68-2, Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla combined well to take their team into three figures.
Kallis was batting efficiently and he reached his 58th Test half-century with nine boundaries to his name before he was dismissed by Umar Gul for 50.
Amla soon followed for 37 as his side went from 125-2 to 135-4, but AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis ensured that no more wickets fell as they took South Africa to 159-4 with one session remaining in the day.
