Pakistan will need to score 235 runs in order to level the one-day international series 2-2 following a fightback from South Africa.
The hosts were dealt an early blow when they lost two wickets in the first two balls as seamer Mohammad Irfan, who stands at 7ft 1in, had a strong start by dismissing Hashim Amla and Colin Ingram.
Despite being 0-2, the Proteas managed to get back on track with AB De Villiers, who was able to weather the storm and reach 75 runs before getting dismissed by Saeed Ajmal.
David Miller, who was taken out prior to the wicket of De Villiers, contributed with 67, while Ryan McLaren (11), Roy Kleinveldt (18) and Robin Petersen (25 not out) also added to the run-rate.
Irfan and Ajmal were the standout bowlers for Pakistan by taking three wickets each.
