AB de Villiers has scored his 19th Test century in the morning session against Australia to guide South Africa to 323-5 at lunch on day two of the second Test in Port Elizabeth.
The Proteas, who are currently 1-0 down in the three-Test series, closed yesterday on 214-5 after bad light halted play, leaving De Villiers and Jean-Paul Duminey with the task of upping their side's run-rate.
It was a confident start from the hosts when Duminey scored a boundary in the first over of the day, while both batsmen frustrated the Aussies in the early stages.
De Villiers ended day one by becoming the first man in history to score a half-century in 12 consecutive Tests, but he managed to bring the attack to the Aussies once again by reaching his 19th Test century this morning.
The 30-year-old, who hit six off Peter Siddle as South Africa surpassed the 300 mark, will return to the crease for the afternoon session on 102 alongside Duminey, who is unbeaten on 59.
